Music
Starting from the earliest years in junior kindergarten, right up through grade twelve, our students are engaged in musical activities, both in an out of the classroom. Our youngest children participate in an active music program, with instruments and activities tailored to early learning and development.
In the elementary years, music students participate in movement, singing, recorder, dance, and instrument playing. Children are given opportunities to sing in choirs, to play in large and small ensembles, and to perform as soloists. Our award winning percussion ensemble, The GCS Knight Lights, involves many students from our third through sixth grades.
Our high school has a rich foundation for their continuing musical arts program. Students at this level are offered classes in percussion ensemble, choir, and praise and worship. Students also participate in our annual high school drama, using their musical talent to enhance the success of the theatre arts program.
His Girls, our award winning female high school choir, provides students with an excellent opportunity to develop their choral skills. Under the direction of their passionate leader, the girls are also mentored in leadership and life skills. This choir ministers throughout the year in many communities and churches across the Island.
As we continue to develop our music program, our vision at Grace Christian School is to offer a full band program, beginning in grade seven and continuing through grade twelve. With such committed staff members, volunteers, and donors, we are confident this will happen in the near future.
